Unlocking Lokatoo GPS to use Garmin Mobile XT

Screw Malsingmap, I will post my own findings in my own blog here.

Recently my brother bought his brand new Proton Persona and was given one very crappy GPS named Lokatoo.

Not convince with the crappy map that have, I spent over the weekend trying to break into the system and eventually prove my thoughts that this is on a WinCE platform.

The whole GPS software was set to run on this Guider.exe at first start, so that is why you won't see the WinCE desktop. In order to break open to that, you will need to:

Step 1. Insert your SD card into the card reader and find this file: GpsRunfile.txt
Step 2. Open this file in using notepad, then change from:


//this file is set path of the file of navigator
"\SDMMC\Guider\Guider.exe"

to

//this file is set path of the file of navigator
"\SDMMC\CECMD.EXE"

This tells the WinCE to run CECMD instead of Guider (which is the original GPS crappy software)

Step 3. So, where to we get the CECMD then? What I did was I went to this website Navigo Hack and found the hacking method is similar to lokatoo.

Note :

• I have followed the old method, which was said to be very tricky but it works for Lokatoo.
• Also, I did not do an ActiveSync prior breaking into the Lokatoo because I can't find how to work it. It has something to do with the baud rate setting.

So Please be very careful as you might be very well turning your GPS into a brick, then I don't know how to help you after this.

Step 4. So, by now after you have play with the registry, you will already be starting your WinCE everytime your turn on your GPS.

Step 5. I've then proceed installing the Garmin Mobile XT (warez from torrent site) and never look back since then!

Step 6. Where to get free maps? Where else by Malfreemaps?? Screw Malsing again. Heh...

Looks like a lot of people are interested to crack their Lokatoo and use Garmin Mobile XT instead.

I have found another site that this guy is doing similar approach like me, he also has done the part to adjust the screen size as well. So, do have look!

After our disastrous pasta night out at Pasta de Gohan, it is not hard to imagine we've got to make things right.

Mark invited me to come around for a nice spaghetti last night. I always know he cooks very well, right from when we first met, he use to cook the Swedish meat ball with a family traditional recipe he got from a close Swedish friends many many years ago (gosh, I just miss that mashed potatoes with Edam cheese and fried chopped garlic), right till sometime ago when he cooked with stuffs we got from Cameron Highlands

When I was in Hobart Tasmania disturbing him, he cooked me a nice piece of steak Diane that till now I am finding that lovely taste so hard to forget

Sometimes he will spoil me with this Pina Colada (Mark's recipe of course)

So, this was what he cook for me this round...

Grilled chicken salad with mustard seed vinegar olive oil dressing. YUM!

Seafood marinara with cream sauce spaghetti, also loaded in with fresh sliced mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes

What more can I ask for, they are just so tasty and satisfying. We finished them off while watching final few episodes of Desperate Housewives season 4. I call this a nice good time spent together as a couple. I just feel such lousy cook myself really, but who cares, I will continue to look forward for more his pasta, stews, cookies, cakes, mash, meatballs... :P

A day at work - Monash University Installation

A lot of people asked about what I sell in reality, since I always mentioned that I am merely a sales girl. But the moment when I say I sell scientific research stuffs, most people misunderstood by thinking I sell microscopes, erm... worse is drugs, pharmaceuticals...

So... today I will bring you to take a glimpse on a typical day of work I have.

Hmmm... in reality it is a bit more special today, as the fact that we are delivering some goods to Monash Sunway today. I have been very happy since we first received the order for the goods from Monash School of Medicine and Health Science since two months ago. Their decision in buying the stuffs propose by my colleague and I, marked a milestone that I can indeed sell something instead of being perceived that I day dream half the time in this company of mine... or at least I think of myself that way. Keke...

Lew, Ham and I have been busy unwrapping all the goods from the boxes, trying to assemble them, clean them till late.

First we had the pH meter done... in case you dunno, Sir Arnold Beckman invented the first pH meter in the world... and therefore people now can tell me I need to buy different type of soap with different types of pH so my skin can look the same 20 years from now!

Then got to calibrate with the buffer of different pH... took this pic partly because their color combination look great!

And and its done!

Then started meddling with the centrifuge.

According to wikipedia:

A centrifuge is a piece of equipment, generally driven by a motor, that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis, applying force perpendicular to the axis. The centrifuge works using the sedimentation principle, where the centripetal acceleration is used to separate substances of greater and lesser density. There are many different kinds of centrifuges, including those for very specialised purposes.

We started with the small one first -- microcentrifuges, that spin only the eppendorf tubes

This is the rotor, where you put your sample tubes to spin. The cover is used to prevent tube breakage, in case that the tubes are too small for the hole. Who knows what kind of dangerous specimen people might be having inside it.

And, there's the bigger one -- Bench Top Centrifuge as well...

This rotor is a bit different, the place to fit the sample is a bucket swinging a little when spinning.

And finally, we came to the biggest item for the day. The ultracentrifuge that is.

Therefore you can see that for such high speed instrument, it is the hardest thing to install and to commission. Ham has got to make sure the machine itself is balanced, so as to prevebt accident from happening when running.

He has also got to check to make sure the leg are securely leveled.

Phew, by the time we were done, it was almost 5.30pm. Just in time for us to go home. Will have to come back again sometime next week to teach our customer how to use it properly.

Anyways, these stuffs are just one part of the thing I have to "sell". Perhaps I will take more pictures the next round when we have more installation going on. Heh...

Hello Nokia N73 Music Edition

Meet my other new new love -- The Nokia N73ME.

Was struggling a long time if I should get this phone, since it could really burn a big hole in my pocket. Also wasn't sure if I would like to have this phone over the SE K800i. Sniff, and Mark decided to sponsor me a large part of it.

After using it for few days, I am actually very glad that I've got this phone.

Apart from playing various games on it, found that I can take pictures (good ones too) whenever inspiration arise.

I can blog about food I eat more often I guess...

Blog about place I think that's kind cool too...

And take pictures with skin texture so smooth that you can't see my pimples. Haha...

But if you use the optical zoom too much, then the noise really can be nuisance!

Oh well, it is just a phone with a camera, can't demand so much.

Anyways, I am cool with the N73ME, as it comes with two speaker output, making music crisp clear when being played.

Combination of colorful items always make good subjects for photographs testing. Have bought some Barcadi Breeze for myself (Gosh! I adore them), then saw them standing orderly with the two apples, And I thought I should just as well play with the camera a little.

Sometimes, it takes some creativity and encourage one to see the world in a different perspectives...

Panasonic Lumix FZ7 Flight Test - Putrajaya

Decided to head over to Putrajaya to really practice with my camera after work today. Fortunately the weather was excellent despite slight drizzling earlier on around Serdang area.

My brother recently too just bought his Panasonic Lumix FZ50. We two really had great deal of time finding out what our cameras can offer.
